The Sewing Process

There’s something truly magical about sewing and design - the way a simple piece of fabric can be transformed into something full of character and purpose. For me, that magic happens where creativity and skill come together, from sketching ideas and choosing fabrics to creating clothes that move well and tell a story on stage

Notes from the Workroom

My work spans theatre costuming, fashion design, and custom garment construction, with each piece built from concept through final stitch. From patternmaking and fabric selection to fittings and performance-ready finishes, I approach every project with both artistry and function in mind.

Here on the blog, I share a closer look at my sewing process and the finished pieces behind it. I write about making costumes and garments designed to move, endure, and tell a story. Take a look around and follow along as each design comes to life.

Driven to grow as a designer, I stepped back into the classroom to refine my skills and challenge myself creatively. Through experimenting with new techniques, diverse fabrics, and patternmaking, I completely changed the way I approach design.

Since then, sewing has carried me through a rich and rewarding journey as a patternmaker, cutter/draper, and costume designer. Every challenge, each careful adjustment, and every finished garment has quietly reminded me why I do this work. Sewing is where I feel most at home.
